Researchers using the Hitatich S4100 Scanning Electron Microscope

Welcome to Keck Spectral Imaging Facility

Overview

The Keck Spectral Imaging Facility (KSIF) at UC Davis is a Core Science Facility operating under the Office of Research. Our facility aims at providing molecular level resolution imaging and spectroscopy information for wide range of materials in research: nanomaterials, crystals, composite materials to devices; from biofilms, biomaterials, proteins, DNA to living cells and shells from the ocean floors. KSIF is dedicated to providing high quality and cost-effective resources in molecular level imaging and spectrometry to meet the research needs of the UC Davis community. The KSIF team focuses on providing training in the fundamentals and operations of scanning probe microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, scanning confocal and Raman microscopy and spectroscopy. It has and will continue to enhance the scientific training and competitiveness for UC Davis graduate students, post-doctoral scholars and staff.

Training

We offer Individual safety and operational training only to internal (UC) users with PPMS accounts.

Sample Submission

Internal users can opt to submit samples for us to analyze. External users can only submit samples for us to analyze. Please contact the technical director at ksif@ucdavis.edu for details.

Scheduling Time

To reserve instrument time on any of our instruments, you can access the online Scheduler Here.   A PPMS account is required to access to the scheduler. Click on the request account link on the front page of the scheduler.
